  • Flashover Recognition & Survival Training

    Course Description:

    This is a one day course that provides the student with the knowledge to predict hostile fire events and the skills to mitigate a flashover.  Students will experience hostile fire events in a safe environment inside an engineered flashover unit.  This course is conducted under the strict supervision of qualified NFPA 1041 instructors in a 5:1 Student to instructor ratio.  Students will participate in:

    • Fire Control
    • Command / Accountability / Entry Control
    • Identifying Hazardous Fire Conditions

     

    Prerequisite:

    NFPA 1001 Firefighter Level I or similar experience

    What to Bring to Class:

    • A safety first attitude and open mind
    • Bunker Gear and SCBA with spare cylinder – Gear can be provided to students subject to a $50.00 cleaning fee
    • Camera – we encourage you take pictures
    • Station work wear
    • CSA approved footwear  

    Course Includes:

    • Access to SFA PPE and equipment
    • Complete electronic JPR package (SFA retains all original documentation)
    • Certificate of participation
