  • NFPA 1041 Fire Instructor II (19-1041-2-1)

    Southwest Fire Academy Fire Service Instructor Level 2 program in compliant to the NFPA 1041 Fire Service Instructor Standard (2012 edition). This 100 hour program is presented with 40 in class hours and approximately 60 hours of correspondence study and post course work. This course is designed to provide instructors with a more in-depth knowledge of the instructional process, and testing and evaluating skills. This course will cover areas of identifying training problems, learner types, developing lesson plans, planning for instruction, presenting lessons, teamwork communications, domains of learning and the testing and evaluation process. Students are required to develop a complete training program to meet the requirements of the OFMEM job performance requirements.

    Southwest Fire Academy’s incident safety offer course has been designed around the NFPA 1521 Standard for Fire Department Safety Officer Professional Qualifications. This course is intended for the member within a fire department or emergency service organization who performs the functions of an Incident Safety Officer or who serves as an assistant to the Incident Safety Officer. Topics covered include:

    -          Identify safety concerns

    -          Implementation of safety programs

    -          Basic approach to ISO duties

    -          Codes, Regulations, Laws, Standards and Procedures
