  • SFA NFPA 1041 Fire Instructor Level I (18-1041-1-2)

    This course meets the requirements for NFPA 1041 Fire Service Instructor Level I and will be run at the SFA Campus in Delhi Ontario.  Accommodations can be provided on site at no additional cost.

    Upon registration, students will be emailed a student workbook that must be completed prior to attending the first day of class.

    The Southwest Fire Academy Fire Service Instructor Level I program in compliant to the NFPA 1041 Fire Service Instructor Standard (2012 edition). This 80 hour training program is presented with 20 in class hours and 60 out of class hours to achieve all objectives. This course is designed to provide skills and teaching techniques for those who will be instructing emergency services courses. Areas covered are role of the instructor, adult learning principles, methods of instruction, lesson planning, objectives, learning environment, instructional techniques, and lesson preparation. Students are required to complete out of class study and the pre-work package provided.

    Nov 23,24,25  (Friday Night, Saturday and Sunday)
    Nov 30, Dec 1,2 (Friday Night, Saturday and Sunday)

    Course Description:
    The Southwest Fire Academy Fire Service Instructor Level 2 program in compliant to the NFPA 1041 Fire Service Instructor Standard (2012 edition). This 100 hour program is presented with 40 in class hours and approximately 60 hours of correspondence study and post course work. This course is designed to provide instructors with a more in-depth knowledge of the instructional process, and testing and evaluating skills. This course will cover areas of identifying training problems, learner types, developing lesson plans, planning for instruction, presenting lessons, teamwork communications, domains of learning and the testing and evaluation process. Students are required to develop a complete training program to meet the requirements of the OFMEM job performance requirements.

    Prerequisite:
    NFPA 1041 Fire Service Instructor Level I or OFM Trainer Facilitator

    Course Description:

    The Southwest Fire Academy Fire Officer Level 1 program in compliant to the NFPA 1021 Fire Officer Standard (2017 edition).  This program has been developed using a cross reference matrix from the OFM Company Officer Level I learning outcomes and NFPA 1021 Fire Officer Level I requirements.  This program takes an in-depth look at the role of the new company officer and students will learn about various types of leadership styles.  Administration requirements and accident / incident investigation are other areas of study.

    Prerequisite to Participate in Course:

    NONE

    Prerequisite to Participate in IFSAC / ProBoard Certification Testing:

    NFPA 1041 Instructor Level I for OFMEM Certification

    A currently employed firefighter / officer and must be signed in by the Fire Chief or Department Designate
